Chinese Painting Course: Mo Gu
﷼10.500,00 – ﷼52.200,00
﷼10.500,00
This class explores Mo Gu aesthetics through the works of two literati masters — Chen Chun (Ming dynasty) and his Plum Blossoms and Daffodils, and Yun Shouping’s Flower, Bamboo and Rock from the Ou Xiang Studio Sketch Album.
Students will study the Mo Gu, or “boneless,” painting method — a refined xieyi (freehand) approach that values meaning and expressive freedom over rigid outlines. The class includes demonstrations of ink-and-color blending and wet and dry brush techniques on xuan paper.
Through mimic training, students will cultivate rhythm, patience, and precision. By the end of the session, each participant will complete two selected works featured on the course poster.
Gongbi painting is more structured and disciplined, it follows each step carefully, requiring patience and precision. The process is slower but essential for anyone who wants to build a solid foundation before advancing to higher levels.
Mogu, on the other hand, is also suitable for beginners in this course. In the second painting, students will focus on more color mixing and fluid expression. Traditionally, mogu comes after gongbi studies, but in this class, it offers a more forgiving and experimental approach, allowing you to explore freedom within technique.
This course will be sponsored by Eikona, an art institution bridging the arts and the market through branding, events, and education.
