Chinese Painting Course: Gong Bi
ƒ79.00 – ƒ392.00
ƒ79.00
**NEW TIMESLOT!** In this class, students will gain an in-depth understanding of Gong Bi aesthetics through the study of the color palette of Qian Xuan (Yuan dynasty) and his works Daffodil and Dry Plum Branch. The course explores the principles of fine-line brushwork, with demonstrations of stroke patterns and techniques using both wet and dry brushes on Xuan paper.
Gongbi painting is more structured and disciplined, it follows each step carefully, requiring patience and precision. The process is slower but essential for anyone who wants to build a solid foundation before advancing to higher levels.
Mogu, on the other hand, is also suitable for beginners in this course. In the second painting, students will focus on more color mixing and fluid expression. Traditionally, mogu comes after gongbi studies, but in this class, it offers a more forgiving and experimental approach, allowing you to explore freedom within technique.
Students will also practice the traditional mimic training method, a foundational approach to cultivating rhythm, patience, and precision in Chinese painting. By the end of the session, each participant will complete two selected works featured on the course poster.
This course will be sponsored by Eikona, an art institution bridging the arts and the market through branding, events, and education.
Date: Saturdays from November 22 - December 20
