Join us for a special hands-on workshop led by artist Diane Espiritu, where you’ll create your own traditional Filipino Parol lantern using bamboo framing and delicate handmade paper.
Held in the beautiful Hall of One Hundred Rivers at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, this workshop offers a meaningful cultural experience in a serene and inspiring setting.
What is a Parol Lantern?
The Parol is a star-shaped beacon of light and hope that leads traditional Filipino holiday processions. Hung in windows and doorways around the world, it symbolizes the triumph of light during the year’s longest nights. Crafting your own Parol is both a creative experience and a celebration of heritage, community, and illumination.
