About the Instructor
Xin Wen
Visual Artist · Painter · Cultural Educator

I am a Vancouver-based visual artist, trained in Fine Arts at Emily Carr University. My work blends traditional Chinese techniques with contemporary approaches and personal storytelling, reflecting a deep connection to memory, language, and material sensitivity.

Painting, for me, is both a meditative and emotional practice - a way to revisit the past, honour heritage, and reimagine cultural identity through gesture and ink. Each object, each brushstroke, becomes a vessel of feeling and quiet history.

The Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden holds a special place in my heart as one of the most meaningful spaces in Vancouver, bridging cultures and generations through the art of Chinese painting. Through teaching and live demonstrations, I hope to offer not just technique but a moment of connection: with ourselves, with one another, and with something ancient yet alive.
