Growing up in Vancouver's East Side with deep connections to Vancouver's Chinatown, local author/writer/artist Donna Seto's impactful vibrant watercolor illustrations of these historical buildings has sparked important conversation on cultural preservation of heritage assets and has shed a positive light on this struggling community.
Seto's work has made a huge social impact and step towards the revitalization of Chinatown which has experienced ongoing vandalism and crime over the years.
She has completed 18 paintings so far, some of which feature different versions of the same building to show how it has changed over time.
